Hi, I'm Liz!

I get it, I’ve been there. 

I came blazing out of high school and university with top marks and entered the work world with big plans. I quickly learned that there was so much more to success than being a high achiever.

I still remember the day I walked back to my computer after struggling to connect with one of my colleagues who just didn’t seem to care about my opinion.

I sat there, staring at my ever-growing inbox, and I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong. I spent hours overthinking what I was doing and what people thought about me.

Every week we meet on Zoom for a 90 minute group coaching call to debrief the topic you were focused on all week. You'll have a chance to share your insights, learn from the group and get professional coaching to help you go even deeper into the week's material.

When you enroll, you'll select a primary group call time, either:

I came to coaching because I felt like I wasn't giving strong first impressions as a leader, due to a combination of warmth, friendliness, my petite size, and my gender.

Fifteen years into a successful professional career spanning two fields across two levels of government, I found myself at a crossroads. The time had come to determine what the next phase of my professional life would look like. I could start seriously pursuing promotional opportunities, but I felt a nagging hesitation.

I'm in a new position (promotion, created for me) and got a pay rise!

Having recently turned 40 and after ten years with the same management consulting firm, I was beginning to get itchy feet.

I felt overworked, underappreciated, and started to wonder if greener fields existed perhaps in another job or field. I will be coming back as a manager after my maternity leave!

I had been working for the same organization for the last four years. I have consistently had great reviews and received salary increases. However, that has not come with a senior title. I was struggling with having lots of responsibilities without authority.

I was pregnant and about to hit my third trimester, and thought it may pose a challenge in asking for a higher title. One of my family members did not think I should ask for a promotion since I was about to have a baby and that I should focus on my pregnancy and baby.

I had a performance review, which went really well, and I was mulling over it for weeks. I got a merit-based salary increase, and I wanted to advocate myself to also get a promotion. I decided to schedule a meeting with my manager to ask for a promotion.

I was tired of tipping from being either quiet and tentative, or overcompensating by using a voice that wasn't authentically mine.

Imagine this - you are in a high-power meeting, and you are calmly and accurately presenting three key points to the organization's top decision makers. You are mid-way through your first key point and one of your peers interrupts you, and states, "What Katherine is trying to say is....", and your peer begins to talk over you, and what he is saying is completely wrong.

What is your initial reaction, Do you want to go off on a tangent? Begin to speak louder, faster, and risk saying the same thing three different ways? Or perhaps freeze and then lose the attention of the room? All of the reactions are understandable, and likely to occur to many women in any meeting, on any given workday. These events occurred to me, and I was tired of tipping from being either quiet and tentative, or overcompensating by using a voice that wasn't authentically mine.

As a result of working with Liz, I have found my voice and built my self-confidence. I identified the "old stories" I had continuously told myself that had been holding me back. I now feel like I can give strong first impressions without having to sacrifice my values

I came to coaching because I felt like I wasn't giving strong first impressions as a leader, due to a combination of warmth, friendliness, my petite size, and my gender.

I was worried that I might discover that there is not much I can do to address my concern.

After working with Liz, I now have a tangible but manageable task ("homework") to work on that will help me prepare for future first encounters and for developing a more accurate, fair, and truthful view of myself in the workplace.

What I really appreciated about Liz was feeling like I was being truly heard and understood. She was obviously listening very attentively to the things I was describing, so much so that she was able to read between the lines and redirect my attention to some important details that I was missing.

I now feel like I can give strong first impressions without having to sacrifice values that are important to me -- this was my goal, and I'm delighted to have arrived at it.
